Research Experience for Undergraduate Students
- Research Experience for Undergraduate Students
In this research experience for undergraduate (REU) supplement to our existing grant titled ''A Novel Architecture for Application-Aware Cognitive Multihop Wireless Networks'', supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), two qualified undergraduate students will be recruited to our research team in the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Each of the two students will be assigned a specific task during the spring semester 2013 for the ongoing NSF project. A strong emphasis will be placed on problem solving, design, and industry-related experience.
The main tasks of this REU project include 1) Computer programming and network configuration using Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) hardware; and 2) Performance evaluation through simulation and measurements.
The participating students must be US citizens or permanent residents at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We prefer junior or sophomore candidates because they may commit a longer term research and potentially pursue higher degrees. The criteria also include that the student's GPA be better than 3.30 and with good computer programming skills such as C, Matlab, OPNET, etc.
Participant stipends are budgeted at a total of $6400 per student for 5 months starting January 1 ending May 31, 2013.
Interested students should contact Dr. Qian, yqian2@unl.edu and supply the following: a cover letter stating qualifications and research interests; a copy of unofficial transcripts.
